Sustainable St Albans Week 2018 couldn’t operate without the support of so many local organisations. We thought we’d take this opportunity to focus on each of our sponsors, in the run up to the week. Godfrey’s Fish & Chips
“I opened Godfrey’s in 2012, with my mum and dad, who have worked in the fish and chip industry for over 30 years. Godfrey’s cook all their food fresh to order – so hot and crisp fish and chips straight from the fryer. They peel and chip the potatoes each morning which are then double cooked to give a perfect chip – fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside.
All their fish comes from sustainable sources. Their cod, haddock and rock is MSC certified which means they’re helping to guarantee we can all enjoy fish and chips for years to come. And it’s not just their fish and chips that are prepared with love – their pies are homemade, their sausages free-range and their homemade tartare sauce is the best you’ll ever taste!

- Their fish is fully sustainable. They were the first takeaway and restaurant in Hertfordshire to have full Marine Stewardship council certification.
- All of their packaging is completely compostable

- All their food waste goes to an anaerobic digester – producing compost and power

Sustainable St Albans Week runs from 21- 29 April 2018 with 100+ events. We would not happen without the support and enthusiasm of our wonderful sponsors.

This will be the third week to run in St Albans and starts with the Our Planet Our Future event at Rothamsted Research on Saturday 21st April. Other activities throughout the week include a plastic pot amnesty at Aylett Nurseries, a trail of the independent shops in Harpenden, a women-only cycle ride, health walks, a showing of the film “A Plastic Ocean” at the Odyssey Cinema, and concludes with The Know How Festival on Sunday 29th April. This is a day-long fun, family-friendly event with workshops to share skills and knowledge, music, short films and local food.
