Be a Sustainability Expert #SustFest21

The subject of sustainability covers every aspect of our life and decision making and our super varied #SustFest21 events list reflects this. We are so lucky to have this wealth of information available to us .

It can be hard to know where to start or what to focus on next, what events do I want to go to?

Jill Watson, Chair of #SustFest21 (and purveyor of #plasticfree products at her Phase Out Plastic St Albans market stall) talks about how to become more sustainable, with the help of the 2021 Sustainability Festival.

What you want to achieve

It could help to start with what interests you, or then consider; do you have a particular aim or resolution that you wanted to achieve this year?

First of all, take some time to read the events programme and then you will see for yourself the vast variety of activities and events that you can get involved in.

Seeing all the events in the programme made me think specifically about questions I get asked when we chat ‘eco’.

  • What do you want to change?
  • Are you vegan?
  • What are you growing in the garden this year?
  • Who is your energy provider?

And I realised that we all enjoy a conversation where we share our thoughts and expertise, and we all have things already listed in our minds that we want to learn about or change.

SustFest is one huge conversation where you can choose the subject you are investigating at any one time.

“In short, it’s a crash course in becoming your own sustainability expert”

…and a perfect opportunity to gather information so you can make your own decisions.

This year my interest is pulled towards 2 things; sustainable creativity (for mindfulness) and the move towards zero carbon, I know- the opposite ends of the event scale! In reality I am anxious about the world’s nations and their minimal plans to reduce carbon and so time out to relax and creativity helps rebalance; this has become even more important through lockdown.

My key events

So with this in mind I want to share with you the list of events I’m hoping to attend!
