Sustainability Market: Meet the Stallholder; Meco Homes

Meco Homes are a local business specialising in energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for homes.  Resident in St Albans Danny Martindale runs the business from their home office in the city centre.  The business has been in operation since 2020 and in that time they have designed and installed green energy solutions to many households in the district.

Their expert team of 8 people, consists of two heat pump installers,  two solar installers, designers and an electrician who are responsible for the full design and installation of heat pumps, solar systems and home ev car charging points around the local area. Danny says ‘We try to link all the renewable technologies together, design the solar to use excess electricity to heat the hot water cylinder, when it’s exporting to the grid for example, so that they become a more efficient scheme and help save more money.’

Meco homes is helping our district become more sustainable by providing 1-3 homes a week with solutions that negate the need to use ‘dirty’ gas powered heating and instead use cleaner, renewable technologies. They have customers at different stages in their sustainability journeys but their favourite customers are the ones that ‘offer donuts and cups of tea to the team, it makes for a much happier project’

Danny’s favourite thing about living in St Albans district is that ‘you can walk or cycle nearly everywhere in the city’ and his top eco tip, aside from renewable energy solutions, is, ‘to walk or cycle as much as you can – it’s good for you and the environment.’

Meco Homes will be hosting their first market stall on 16th July at the Harpenden Sustainability Market, come along to find out more about them and other local sustainable businesses.
