Open Food Gardens

July 2 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Explore the fruit and veg grown in St Albans, Harpenden and the villages. Tips, advice and inspiration for growing your own.

This garden is a very attractive example of space-efficient design.

Food is grown in both the back and front gardens. In the south facing front garden there is a mixture of fruit, vegetables and herbs, growbags for tomatoes. The back-garden is about 10 metres square and is multi-purpose, incorporating shaded seating areas, planting to attract wildlife and a small pond. It also includes three raised beds where vegetables are grown. There are also minaret fruit trees, soft fruit trained on fences.

The old rotting wooden raised beds were replaced last year with recycled plastic enabling the garden to be more accessible for the owner. There are several water butts and compost bin.

Drop in – no booking required.

Gresford Close is a cul de sac, with limited street parking. Various buses go along Hatfield Road, stopping at Colney Heath Lane.
