St Albans District loves a street party!
St Albans District has been the street party capital of Hertfordshire for a number of years. For example, nearly a third of the county’s 500+ Queen’s Jubilee street parties took place here in 2022, and in 2024 over half of the county’s street party application came from residents in the St Albans district. To organise your own street party you simply need to apply to Herts County Council at minimum 6 weeks before your party after having consulted your neighbours by letter.

Under street party legislation in Hertfordshire, you may only close your road once a year for a street party. However, in St Albans District, the local Playing Out scheme allows residents to apply up to 8 more times a year for short closures for the purpose of play and community building – see Playing Out in St Albans District.
