After experiencing a serious burn injury shortly after the pandemic, Sandrine Tengwo struggled to find high-quality natural products to heal her skin. Her research led her back home to Cameroon, where she discovered the power of premium-quality Cameroonian shea butter and founded Makamto Ltd.
If you have difficult skin conditions such as acne scarring, stretch marks, cracked heels, burns, scarring, dermatitis, rashes, psoriasis, severely dry skin or wrinkles and want to help your skin heal naturally, then you’ll want to discover Makamto Ltd and its products at the next Harpenden Sustainability Market on the 16th of March.
At Makamto Ltd’s stall you’ll find their flagship product, Pure Butter Skin Shea Gold, which is made from pure, unrefined shea butter to protect, heal and repair the skin.
Makamto Ltd is inspired by its Cameroonian heritage. When Sandrine began her journey of natural skin healing, she discovered that the name she inherited from her great grandmother, is derived from a traditional Bamiléké name from the Bahouan dynasty and translates literally as ‘mother of noble markets’: MA (Mother)KAM (Noble) To (Markets). Shea butter comes from the nut of the African shea tree and has long been considered a staple beauty product – Queen Cleopatra was reportedly a fan.
Makamto Ltd also mixes their shea butter with natural oils, and you can discover its mandarin, lemon, grapefruit, lemongrass, orange and lavender shea butter and oil blends. All products are made from 100% natural ingredients and are vegan and cruelty-free. Other products include handmade African print items such as fans, bags, hats and other accessories.
Makamto Ltd’s shea butter is of the highest quality and they source it from small-scale farmers in Cameroon. They work closely with these farmers to ensure they’re paid a fair price for their ‘women’s gold’. They also strive for sustainability by using recycled packaging.
What does Sandrine enjoy most about the Harpenden Sustainability Market? ‘The atmosphere, the support from the local community, the focus on sustainability and the diversity of produce available,’ she says.
You can browse Makamto’s products on their website or follow them on Instagram to find out more about the benefits of their products and keep up to date with market appearances.
