Now that I’m InstaGran, (70K followers and counting) I thought I’d try using it to make media contacts. My first attempt paid off and the Editor of the Times Home section asked if they could do a feature on me and the house.
It was a great experience – once we’d tidied up.

Imagine a photographer from the Times newspaper coming to your home. You’ve got to show them every bit of your home – it’s what they’ve come for – no room for a ‘behind closed doors’ shambles. I don’t think we’ve ever been so clean!
The journalist, Victoria Brzezinski, did an amazing job of getting the detail right. She lives in the ground floor flat of a Victorian house in London so has first-hand experience of the underfloor gale and freezing windows. I think she was storing up the information for later!
It’s a brilliant article – well worth me taking that risk in Insta. And it led onto Radio 4 ‘You and Yours’, Radio London and, interestingly, an article in the Renewable Energy Installer and Specifier entitled ‘The big four of retrofit and why it’s like a pair of Spanx’.
Now I’ve have to keep going to make sure we get the message out there about retrofit – warm home, less cost and saving the planet. A win, win, win.
You can read The Time article here and much more at https://ecorenovationhome.com.
Visit a Victorian terrace ‘eco’ house to understand the retrofit process: insulation, airtightness, ventilation, breathability.
